Student work: design of a resting area and viewing point in the dunes of De Panne.

The aim of the assignment was to learn about the architectural detail and the materialisation of a concept through the design of a 4x4x4m volume.

Out of respect for the vulnerable landscape, ecological materials were chosen for the construction of the structure. The building elements and the connections are made entirely of wood.

Thanks to the double skin, made of tightly woven sticks, the resting place at the bottom offers shelter against the wind and weather. At the top, the lookout offers a beautiful view of the nature reserve. Because of the natural materials, the design does not stand out against the environment but is completely absorbed in it.
